A total of 6 member companies of the Hong Kong Porcelain Merchants Association (HKPMA) are exhibiting at the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair; they represent a number of categories in the porcelain business, including tableware and other decorative items in a variety of styles.
HKPMA was established in 1969 and has around 120 members; most of them are porcelain manufacturers and traders based in Hong Kong. Their products are exported to markets around the globe and are in demand for their quality and design.
The Association helps members in the development of their business. It represents members' interests by participating in a range of activities and events at home and overseas. It also aims to protect the interests of porcelain manufacturers and traders through dialogue on current economic issues with relevant authorities. It also takes the initiative to strengthen contact between enterprises and factories through on-site visits and meetings, in order to establish an open environment for technology updates.
The production of porcelain products has a long history in Hong Kong. Most of the Association's members, like those in other industries, have shifted production facilities across the border, leaving the Hong Kong offices to focus on higher value functions, including sourcing, logistics, development and marketing.
