Handy HoldersKey Chains/Holders
This is especially true when it comes to key chains and holders produced by experienced Hong Kong gifts and premiums manufacturers such as Uni-Lockey Mfg Co Ltd, which has been in the business since 1979. As marketing manager Johnny Li says, "A unique key holder is always a favourite choice when it comes to promotional giveaways and premiums." Uni-Lockey offers a range of metal or plastic functional key chains, which account for 50% of the company's total output. "One popular item is a voice-recorder/alarm key chain that also has a key-light function and lets the user record a single message up to 10 seconds long," Li explains. This, he says, is just one of the many inspirational products that Uni-Lockey's R&D team continually generates, although clients are welcome to "mix and match" the various features to create designs suited to their own needs. The ODM and OEM firm operates an ISO 9001-certified, 3,500-square-metre, 1,400-worker factory in Shenzhen on the Chinese mainland that produces 3.5 million units per month, using plastic, zinc alloy, aluminium, brass, tin and iron from Australia, Korea, Japan and China. "The US, Canada and Europe are our key markets, though we also sell to Australia, Japan, South America and other Asian countries," Li adds. "Minimum order value is US$1,000 per shipment, and delivery is 35-45 days after confirmation." Immanuel Enterprise Ltd, meanwhile, emphasises creativity as well as quality, and encourages its in-house product development and graphic design teams to work closely with clients and turn vague concepts into a unique product. "We are in a very competitive market and we focus on quality service," director Chow Man Chi maintains. "We are more than happy to work with our clients to develop their innovations." A recent success from a customer's design was an innovative 3D, spinning, metal key chain, while another buyers' favourite is the "Life Capsule" that can be used as a pill container. OEM and ODM orders are welcome and produced in Immanuel's 30,000-square-metre, 200-worker mainland factory in Guangdong Province that can produce up to 100,000 items a month. Immanuel's products, which are made from zinc alloy, brass, stainless steel, lead, tin alloy and steel imported from Japan, Korea, the US and China, are sold in several key markets. "We sell to the US, UK, France, Germany and Dubai," Chow explains, adding that normal lead time is 20-40 days after confirmation of a minimum order of 3,000 pieces. "Since 2002, we have had our private Immanuel label." Offering a similarly helpful approach to meeting client needs is Scorpion Precision Industry (HK) Co Ltd, which believes reliability and expertise are the key factors to success. "Scorpion has been in business since 1987," owner George Ouang notes. "We not only make good products, but also build a strong and long-term relationship with our customers." Scorpion specialises in manufacturing custom metal and soft PVC promotional items, including key chains, lapel pins, coins, medals and magnets, using zinc alloy from China. A wide selection of key chains including stamping, printed, etching, die casting or spin casting demonstrate Scorpion's sophisticated technology. "All materials, as well as manufacturing processes, comply with international regulations," Ouang maintains. "Our dedication to constantly meeting our customers' quality expectations has led us to get ISO 9002 certfication." Production takes place in several factories in Zhongshan on the mainland that occupy a total of 35,000 square metres, employ more than 2,000 workers and produce some 2.5-3 million items a month. "We can make approval samples on request when a client places an order," Ouang says, admitting that it is also in Scorpion's own interest to get customers before starting production. "If the product does not meet the customer's requirements, we either immediately refund or remake at no extra cost." Scorpion requires 100-unit minimum orders that are delivered 3-4 weeks after confirmation by clients in the US, Europe and Asia, including famous names such as BMW, Walt Disney and McDonald's. Another veteran key chains producer is Kingin Industries Ltd, which has been manufacturing plastic, glass and ceramic souvenirs for more than 40 years. "We have a record of making fine quality products," manager Mary Chan maintains. The company's recent selection of key holders includes colourful tiny plastic moulds such as the lucite models that feature 8-10 colour printing on both sides and a lubrication oil bottle version that makes an ideal premium. Kingin's 14-storey production plant in Dongguan on the mainland covers 50,000 square metres and employs 600 workers who produce two million units per month using plastic resins imported from Japan. Chan says these products are exported to major markets such as the US, Australia, Canada, Japan, and Europe. "Our minimum order is 1,000 pieces delivered 1-2 months after confirmation," Chan adds. Clearly, Hong Kong key chain and holder manufacturers have no close competitors when it comes to the handy holders that make popular gifts and premiums worldwide.
