Hong
Kong Houseware Fair 2008
Buyers at
Asia's top houseware fair will surely get the goods
Befitting Hong Kong's
role as a global sourcing hub, the HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair that
has flourished into the largest of its kind in the region will once
again serve as a vibrant marketplace for buyers and suppliers across
the world in 2008.
About 2,500 exhibitors
from 34 countries and regions are joining the 23rd edition of the event,
presented by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) from 21-24
April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in the heart
of the city.
Fifteen pavilions
from Australia, the Chinese mainland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy,
Korea, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the
US and Vietnam will add further diversity to the immense range of products
on display.
Artistic flair
A new attraction,
namely the Paintings, Objets d'Art and Art Supplies zone, will be introduced
in response to market demand.
In this section,
buyers will find a whole range of paintings, including works in both
Chinese and Western styles, 3D pictures, metal and plastic wall pictures,
posters, prints, tapestries, frames and wooden wall plaques.
On display will
also be artistic items such as antique reproductions, crystal decorations,
glass and porcelain figures and decorations, brass figurines and animals,
as well as jade carvings and sculptures.
The new zone will
also feature artists' tools including wooden boxes, canvas, colouring
pens, crayons, wooden easels, kids' dough, paint brushes, sponge dishes,
plastic watercolour dishes and watercolours.
Welcome return
Among the fair's
perennial favourites is the Hall of Elegance, where buyers can find
branded products and designer collections in a relaxed and professional
atmosphere.
Also returning this
year are two themed zones that debuted in 2007 - the Posh Corner dedicated
to extraordinary premium home living items and the Pet Supplies section
for such products as aquarium sets, pet accessories and toys.
Industry insights
will be presented at a series of seminars covering topics of interest,
including brand building on the Chinese mainland, the latest market
trends, and buyer risks arising from the US sub-prime mortgage crisis.
In 2007, the show
attracted 2,383 exhibitors occupying 3,500 booths and 30,592 buyers
dealing in a comprehensive variety of market sectors and product categories
from all over the globe.
Thumbs up
"This fair is very
important to anyone in this business because it has everything you want
- good products, good range and good balance between high-quality and
low-priced products," said buyer A. Mohd. Rafi, Retail Manager at Al
Faisaliah Group of Saudi Arabia. "There are over 2,000 suppliers here
- that's fantastic!"
Equally impressed
was exhibitor Gülçin Kaymak, International Business Executive Güzelis
at Porselen San. Tic. A.S. from Turkey. "We've been very successful
exhibiting at the Hong Kong Houseware Fair and have won very big customers.
Everything is perfect here. The scale is extraordinary, with a wide
range of interesting items on offer."
Hong Kong exported
a total of US$26bn worth of household goods in 2007, an increase of
almost 19% from the previous year, with the largest markets being the
US and EU.
With such healthy
export growth and the event's strong track record, the HKTDC Hong Kong
Houseware Fair 2008 looks set to achieve even greater success in providing
tremendous business and networking opportunities as well as insights
into the latest industry developments.
It is clearly the
place to be for both buyers and suppliers, who are certain to go home
perfectly satisfied.
