7th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition

Now a much-anticipated event, the Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition entered its seventh year with a dazzling display of jewellery from professional designers and hopeful students alike. This year, participants had to work within two themes: Dazzling Hong Kong and Capriccioso.
According to the organisers: "Bustling with energy in the daytime, Hong Kong is an energetic and active city; whereas in the evenings, a romantic backdrop mirrors its dazzling and dynamic views. The Dazzling Hong Kong theme is the idea of combining vitality and colour, injecting new creative ideas into jewellery design to reflect the energetic and glittering facets of Hong Kong."
The organisers say jewellery design concepts should be kaleidoscopic. "Designers' instincts and inspirations in a flash can turn into extraordinary creations. Under the Capriccioso theme, jewellery designers can fully use their imagination, like the variations of musical rhythms, and they can combine different materials, freeing themselves from all the norms and rules of jewellery design."
The competition is organised jointly by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the Hong Kong Jewellers' & Goldsmiths' Association, the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association, The Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers' Association and the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China.
The results were announced at the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show on March 6.
