Watch & Clock Design CompetitionClassic Timepieces
The exuberant creativity that has helped make Hong Kong the world's leading watch manufacturing centre stole the spotlight at the 21st Hong Kong Watch & Clock Design Competition. The cream of the local watch designer fraternity created stunning designs in both sections of the annual event, which is organised by the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair 2004 Organizing Committee, the Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industries Ltd and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd. To Chak Fai won the Open competition with his eye-catching Merge clock, which accurately reflected the new ways of telling time demanded by the "Breakthrough of the 4th Dimension" theme. Chau Pei Shan's youthful Hold Me Tight watch took top honours in the Student Group that imaginatively explored the "Romanticism" theme and provided convincing evidence of the tremendous depth of talent that exists in the Hong Kong timepiece industry. The winning entries, together with the remaining finalists, attracted enthusiastic attention during the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from September 1-5, 2004.
