Asia Oceania's Emerging Role in the Global Digital Creative Economy
The convergence of communication and media industries in our world today sees the fusion of software, digital contents and services. ICT technologies have penetrated all sectors of societies, while an unprecedented amount of publicly available information has reshaped our economic landscape. A reliance on traditional modes of industrialization for sustained economic growth has also clearly demonstrated limitations and many drawbacks.
In recent years, Asian economies have steadily accelerated the pacing for investing in education, research and development. Public policies are formulated for fostering innovation and creativity, as well as bringing awareness for rights on intellectual property.
A Global Digital Economy is the trend for world markets, while the Hong Kong SAR carries the belief that creativity will be its direction for the future. With a concentration of ASOCIO members’ economies primarily positioned in the Asian region, the ICT Summit in Hong Kong looks to creating a synergy by bridging cooperation from neighbouring digital economies.
“Globalization has created even greater opportunities for the ICT industry. I am pleased to take on this role in orchestrating the successful implementation of this regional Summit. The forum will concentrate on commercial aspects of the industry with the ultimate aim to benefit citizens of all member countries. I sincerely look forward to working with the industry leaders and government ministers to ensure that we achieve our goals, ” said Mr. Richard Li, Honorable Chairman, Organizing Committee of the 2008 ASOCIO ICT Summit.
